Green Tea Affogato

We’re putting a twist on the traditional affogato by using Green Tea instead of espresso.  You’ll want to give this light and refreshing rendition a try.

Green Tea Affogato

Green Tea Affogato

2 servings

– 2 tea bags of Green Tea

– 16 oz. water

– 8 oz. low-fat milk

– 1 tsp. powdered sugar

– 2 scoops vanilla ice cream

In your Capresso teaC100, boil 16 ounces of water on the Green Tea setting. Once the water has come to a boil and the kettle has automatically shut off, pour water into a new pitcher and add tea bags. Steep for 3-5 minutes, or to your personal taste.

Place the frothing disk in your Capresso froth TEC and ensure it is securely snapped inside the bottom of the milk pitcher.  Add milk and powdered sugar to frothing pitcher, and press the Cold button.  Wait for the frother to automatically shut off.

Pour equal parts milk and green tea into large glasses, filling the glass about halfway, and stir well. Place a scoop of ice cream in each. Enjoy!

Caramel Affogato

For a new take on coffee and dessert, try our recipe for Caramel Affogato, a scoop of ice cream “drowned” in espresso. The classic duo creates one mouthwatering treat that is sweet and creamy, yet bold.

Caramel Affogato

1 serving

–       1-2 oz. espresso

–       1 large scoop Dulce de leche or caramel ice cream

Start by placing one large scoop of ice cream into a cup and placing it into the freezer for 15 minutes to an hour to harden.  Using your EC100 Espresso Machine, brew the espresso into a small cup.  Once espresso is done brewing, remove the scoop of ice cream from the freezer and slowly pour the espresso shot over the ice cream. Enjoy immediately.

NOTE: Any combination of ice cream flavors and ice cream toppings can be used to create your own Affogato.  What is your favorite combination?
